NOAA Daily Optimum Interpolation Sea Surface Temperature (OISST), version 2.1
Daily sea-surface temperature on a global 0.25° grid from 1 September 1981, blending AVHRR satellite data with ship, buoy and Argo float measurements and filling gaps by optimum interpolation. Each daily file also carries an anomaly (its metadata says "Climatology is based on 1971-2000 OI.v2 SST"), an error estimate and sea-ice concentration. Files for roughly the last two weeks are preliminary and are replaced by final files; the site keeps that status and labels those days preliminary.
