Net Zero Stocktake 2025 dataset

The Net Zero Tracker's record of net zero and other end targets for 4,083 entities (198 national governments including the European Union, 712 regions, 1,186 cities and 1,987 companies), as collected for the Net Zero Stocktake 2025: each target's type, year, legal status (in law, in a policy document, a declaration or pledge, proposed or in discussion, or achieved by the entity's own account), interim targets, coverage and plans. Coded by the Tracker's volunteer coders from public documents and checked by a second coder. Only the national target fields are used here.

Status

Programme: A fixed deposit for the Net Zero Stocktake 2025 (data collection to September 2025). The Tracker publishes a new stocktake about once a year, with its dataset on Zenodo; a new deposit needs a new registry entry. Not a US federal product.
Updates: Annual stocktake (the live tracker updates every four hours, but only behind a reCAPTCHA form)
Next release: 2026-10-31: The 2023, 2024 and 2025 stocktakes were published in September or October, each with a Zenodo deposit (records 8021261, 13768013, 17143240). None for 2026 was found on 2026-10-08, so the end of October is a guess to look again, not an announced date.
